Value verdict
Compare three numbers: FHR cash rate (with perks), direct Bonvoy rate (earns points/elite nights; FHR bookings generally don't at Marriott), and the points price. Redeem points only when the cents-per-point beats your valuation.

Insider value tips
- FHR: book Pay Now (prepaid) to trigger the Platinum $300 semi-annual hotel credit; a refundable prepaid rate still qualifies (credit is clawed back if you cancel).
- Points: compare weekday vs weekend award prices — dynamic pricing swings widely by date.
- Breakfast for two at hotels of this level is often a meaningful daily cost; a package that includes it is worth more than a slightly cheaper room-only rate.
- Book a flexible rate early, then re-check weekly and rebook if the price drops.
